About Spring City

Spring City is in Rhea County, Tennessee and located along Watts Bar Lake. Spring City was originally named Sulphur Springs, due to the area having an abundance of sulphur in the water. The original location of the town now lies at the bottom of a nearby section of Watts Bar Lake as a result of the Tennessee Valley Authority Act, of which created the Tennessee River System as a way to control flooding, provide electricity, create reservoirs for recreation, and with soil conservation and resource management.
